great snakes!!

Some photos from The Archives! I'd forgotten about these, which were from our trip to Lismore, about 2 years ago. We had such a beautiful time with mum, my brother and sister and their families, as well as a whole menagerie of wild animals, mostly reptiles!
When I came across this one I just had to share it here!!

My intrepid mother looking horrified at what her grandchildren are doing to her!! But never fear, she did get used to the lovely carpet python......

......and did actually look quite relaxed after a while. The children all had a fabulous laugh at her expense - as did my siblings and I!!

Here's my Action Boy showing his Oma how its done - with nerves of steel, that's how!

And the girls, including my little Fairy. My Bella and her cousin are mad about any animal and so have no problems holding and loving ALL creatures great and small, even the slithery ones!

I'm pretty sure this is a Carpet Python and I know they are definitely non toxic. A couple of our boys have been bitten by one and they do have needle sharp teeth but only bite if provoked and cranky. I have to say that while I like the feel of a snake, I'm not really keen on wrapping one around myself!

  1. No I don't think I could let one wrap itself around me either Evi! I'm a bit of a scaredy cat when it comes to snakes, I'm afraid...

  2. There is something strange about an animal that you don't hold---it holds you. My sister had a python and it would wrap itself around my arm and hold itself to me. Creepy and cool. But, snakes are not at the top of my favorite animals list. That first photo is truly priceless.

  3. Oh - very brave - and that includes your Mum!
Don't think I could do it. Carpet snakes are regular visitors to us, we often find one hibernating in winter in the garage. In the summer I have to look out for them all the time as they favour the chook pen, and seem to have a special appetite for little chickens!
While I would never hurt one, I honestly can't say that I really like them.
Looks like an interesting experience though! cheers Wendy

  5. This is a wonderful post Evi.
I love all animals too. My boys would be in heaven if I let them pick up a snake!
I saw a python like this one just yesterday, wrapped around a pedastool fan at a friends house. They do live on 200+ acres of Aussie bushland though, so you would expect a few snakes to be about! ♥

Oh yes please, do leave a comment! I will admit I don't always answer, although I do mean to, but I always read them and love to hear what you say!
