rainbows, thankyou & a gift for you

Do you remember the Colour Code Challenge that I initiated quite a few months back? Did you join in? If so, I hope you enjoyed searching your photo archives for the chosen colours and had fun re-discovering pics you'd forgotten about. I did! Of course, in my enthusiasm about the idea, I had forgotten that I was heading overseas and so my dear Best Man (who did not remain nameless but posted Stuy on every one, sigh) very kindly posted the remaining photos for me. It worked rather well - I made up the drafts with the chosen photos before I left and he did the commentary! And he quite enjoyed it too....... especially all the lovely comments many of you left for him!
Thank you my love, you did an awesome job!!

And I wanted to thank everyone that took part and made the whole thing so much fun...it wouldn't have been the same without you all! I know, I know, I got a bit slack towards the end and didn't visit here or anywhere as much as I should have.... but hey, I was having Holiday Fun and Living In The Moment!! And I realise this is a very belated Thank You....... what can I say? Life is busy!!!

The first photo is what magically appeared in the next paddock after some rain..... I was hoping to find the pot of gold but my children are old enough now, to not believe in such 'childish things' and wouldn't accompany me - how times have changed!
Next is my dear brother wearing Fairy Girls rainbow hat and last is some rainy day painting.

This one is not quite a rainbow but I did try to add in some red, blue, violet and a touch more green........ can you see them?

Once again I have been seized by sudden inspiration and have decided to give someone, somewhere a gift to say thanks for joining in, thanks for stopping by, thanks for making it all worthwhile keeping a blog! I bought these two skeins of hand dyed wool last year and I think it's time some one made use of them. There are 200grams of Corriedale wool and the colours are almost the same as in the photo......... maybe a little bit lighter in real life!

So, if you would like to knit or crochet something funky with this wool, you can leave me a comment and I will draw a winner one day soon...... alright, I'll be more specific and I'll make it..... umm..... Monday the 19th November because that is a whole week and I don't like waiting a long time when I'm  wanting to win something, so I don't suppose others do either!! And maybe if you are a follower* you can leave two comments just because I feel like maybe you are friends and I want to do something extra nice for you!

Here's hoping you all have a really awesome week, with many brightly coloured rainbows and some life giving spring rains for those of you that need it!

*Can someone please give me a nicer word to use instead of 'follower'? I feel a bit like the Bhagwan or some other guru!!

  1. What beautiful rainbows! Would have been fun to join you as you searched for the pot of gold. I've always had a weakness for rainbows and they seem to pop up in my life when least expected. Bringing a smile! I have often knit in rainbows as well. Love the hat and the yarn.

  2. Hi Evi,

It certainly was a fun way to chat and meet new people. I loved the colour challenge and it certainly bought back memories of holidays etc. Rainbows are so beautiful. I love your yarn and even though I am only a novice at knitting I can see in being turned into an amazing scarf ready for next years winter. Always great to add colour to winter.
I have loved reading your blog and especially your holiday.

  5. Perhaps the word could be subscribers rather than followers. I loved your colour challenges, in fact they inspired me to begin my own Saturday Scavenger Hunts. The wool is exquisite and my fingers are getting itchy just looking at it.

  8. "Rainbows are like a beautiful smile", you never get sick of seeing them. I joined your site recently and when I pop over and read your blog, I feel like a friend stopping by. My blog is new but when people join my site I imagine them to be readers or online friends.

  11. Love that wool. I enjoy your pictures and words. I consider myself a reader(sometimes even a friend) even though I don't actually 'follow' blogs, I just have them all pop up in my reader.

    cheers Kate

  12. Mama, am I allowed to comment to?! As you know I love rainbows and it's a special connection with my little rainbow elf. Must you give that wool away..?..I was hoping you were going to make me a loosely crocheted vest!! Perhaps one of you lovely ladies will give this a go though, I've only just learnt to crochet!

  14. I love rainbows! A couple of months ago, my boy and I were driving up a hill and found that we were actually driving through a rainbow - certainly a "Wow" moment.
I think that 'Blogfriend' sounds so much nicer than follower.

  15. Another comment because I follow :)- your 'Colour' posts have been so enjoyable and the Best Man did a great job while you were away.
I am also very jealous of the size of your cabbages - it looks like you are holding a giant bouquet!

I have to say that I am a bit amazed at the size of those cabbages too - it's not as if they received much TLC!!
