I've just spent most of the weekend at my Golden Girls cottage in the bush. The Best Man and I went for a lovely meal cooked for us by her partner and then spent Saturday night and Sunday lazing and chatting.
Our girl and her man are both creative souls and have a flair for putting 'bits' to good use. Although they only rent this house, it's just how they would like a house to be - woody, earthy and eclectic. I'm sure they are both reincarnations of a pair of old hippies - naturally, the Best Man and I both feel quite at home in their house!!!
They have a little veggie garden happening, as well as these old wheelbarrows filled with tomatoes, beans and basil, and were excited to show us their first harvest of garlic and shallots.
Baby finally has a little shelf for all the things s/he needs - don't you just love the colours? She's a believer in basics, my girl, and is not interested in loads of extras, so there won't be any rockers, climbers or gadgets. Just a mama, a bubba and the necessary woolies to keep baby happy.
I laughed when I first saw this pic - they look like a pair of old timers, don't they?
The cottage is old with gaps and cracks but very quaint and quirky, though they have certainly created a warm, cosy nest to welcome their own love child.
Oh, the memories of our early days when we lived in just such an old tumbledown house, without a lot of responsibilities, without many possessions and with the whole of life to look forward to....
What a gorgeous little cottage, it all looks just so, well, perfect!!

Our baby is due Feb. But then so was Rhonwyn and I had her on the 16th Jan. so any time from now. So I agree with you that we'll be grandparents at the same time, how wonderful is that. Your golden girl looks just so gorgeous and her cottage is so cute. They both look very happy.

ReplyDeleteThanks, Kate, they are happy and looking forward to their new family beginning. It will be a new experience for me too, as grandmother this time instead of mother.
