So here goes using the prompts that were given for this month -
1. Happiness is...... a healthy green smoothie for breakfast! With cucumber, almonds, spinach and coconut oil, this are not the sweetest smoothie on the block but it sure is packed with loads of alkalising goodness!
2. Makes me smile....... walking into the bathroom and finding daughter Bee on the floor sorting out her extensive earring collection! She's off work for a while so with all the time on her hands she was inspired to pair them all up!
3. Relaxing with...... a game of Carcassone. Once again, living with the young folk - who are both temporarily out of work - means theres plenty of time to clean and play games!
We all highly recommend this one.
4. Busy with.....bottling and pickling. I used to do a lot of this before I studied and last year moved into a bus and I'm really enjoying it all over again. Bee is keen to fill her pantry or 'store stump' as she calls it and I had fun showing her the ropes of bottling apples and pears.
5. Positive about...... my sourdough skills! I haven't made bread in years and have had to re-learn the basics. The loaves have been progressively getting better and I'm feeling very positive that I've re-mastered the art of a good loaf!!
6. My own choice..... how could I not share this gorgeous passion flower? They are such a fascinating design - not really showy in colour but making up for it in style! It was scrambling over someones front fence when I went for a walk.
And thats it. Just a few random photo's from the April files.
Thanks so much for stopping by - its been lovely to see some new 'faces' here!
Hello Sister Sun, glad you have joined us in Kate's monthly photo hunt. I admit I had to look up Carcassone and Transpersonal Art Therapist, interesting reading. Your bread looks good and I just loved seeing the Passion Flower. We used to grow Granadilla fruit and the ornamental variety in Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) our previous home for many years and the picture brings back happy memories. Thank you. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteOh hello Jak! Lovely that you dropped in! I believe theres a few different varieties of passion fruit so Im not totally sure which sort this one is :) I have read about Granadilla but not seen one. I can just imagine eating them on a sunny day in the shade of a lovely verandah overlooking fields in Zimbabwe! I love sunshiny days but maybe my imagination is running away from me ;)
DeleteI would love a slice of your bread. The smoothy ... not so much. :-)
ReplyDeleteHaha the smoothie is not too bad! It also has coconut milk and coconut water which does give it a little sweetness ;)
DeleteHi Evie, just popped across to say 'Hello'. Mmm I can almost smell your sourdough bread. I must try it for myself soon. Hope Bee managed to pair up all her earrings and not have an odd one left like the matching socks that you know were all pairs when you washed them but somehow one always goes missing. Take care.
ReplyDeleteOh do try some sourdough baking - it's really not that hard. I shall find and share a link to an easy recipe sometime soon.
DeleteI had to go back and look at Bee's socks and funnily enough she's wearing odd ones!!!!
Love the look of your bread; bet it smelly yummy. If Bee ends up with odd earrings, she ought to wear them as a 'pair' - that's what I do with odd socks!
ReplyDeleteHello! Yes, her younger sister wears odd earrings - it's sure to be the fashion ;)
DeleteWhen my children were little I used to be really fussy with pairing up socks (crazy I know) but as they got older and I had more (kids that is) I gave up. Besides, when they started folding their own clothes, why care abut matching socks if they didn't?
Oh Evi, your culinary skills are amazing. I only make bread in the breadmaker & haven't done any bottling for years. When living in Batlow I bottled apples & cherries & did a little occasionally for a while after that, but with a full time job for many years, I was usually too busy. Love the passion flower, but would it fruit in Tassie? Glad you joined in, take care, stay safe & huggles.
ReplyDeleteOh gosh Susan, thankyou! I've mostly loved cooking over the years but had a bit of a slump when I was menopausal a few years back :0) All good again now! I've been fortunate to be able to stay home with our children - and they were always hungry!!!!
DeleteI think the purple passionfruit won't set fruit here but I have seen and eaten local banana passionfruit. It depends where in Tassie though - northern coastal areas seem to be a bit warmer all round and if you find the right sort of sheltered spot for them they will produce. Its too cold where we live, sadly.
your sour dough looks wonderful, I don't know how to make it. It's hard to get ingredients at the moment, does it need special flour?
ReplyDeleteThank you. And its pretty easy (once you get the knack!) - I just use standard plain flour although plain bakers flour would be better. I'll add the recipe I've been using at the bottom here but you may need to ask around for some starter :) or make your own!

Hell Evi, welcome to the Scavenger Hunt, nice to meet you.
ReplyDeleteYour daughter has a lovely ear ring collection.
The bread does look delicious... I could just eat a slice of that with my mint tea.
Hi Julie! I think the earring collection had been growing for quite a few years and certainly needed sorting!!!! I have to say that I'm a bit chuffed that Ive finally got the bread recipe right! Oh it had me fuming for a while though!!
DeleteThanks for dropping in and visiting.
Thank you for joining in with the photo hunt - it is wonderful to 'find' new folk, lovely photos and stories, good to meet you xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Kate - I agree about finding new folk. I especially like finding northern climate blogs to get my fix of sun and blossoms and all things spring now that we are heading into winter. My least liked season :(
DeleteYour photo hunt is a brilliant idea and I'll be joining in again!
Hi Evi, lovely to see your photos and meet someone new here - the passion flower is gorgeous - I have some growing here and they're a fabulous flower. And your bread looks amazing as well as your daughter's earring collection - sympathising with her - mine are never in pairs:)
ReplyDeleteHello Fil!! Thanks for stopping by and having a peek. I made some more bread today and I'm so pleased to report that I think Ive nailed it!!!!! Woohoo!! Now to remember what the magic and necessary technique is!
DeleteLovely to see what you came up with from the photo prompts. We have been to Carcassone so I should check out this game. I usually bottle our apricots, but not enough this year to bother. My hubbie made bread today. Enjoy your week, stay well, thank you for stopping by my blog, and for the prompt to the new link up.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jill, the prompts were a lot of fun to gather and gave me the push to have a close poke through my photos! I cant wait for next months prompts now!
DeleteI adore passionfruit flowers, Evi. What a pretty photograph. I find them just stunning in form and I love the purples against their creamy white petals. MegXx
ReplyDeleteThey are amazing blooms aren't they? I really must try and sketch one.
DeleteSuch great photos, so nice to have you join in. Thanks for showing us part of your life, it looks like you know how to keep busy! The passion flower is gorgeous, such pretty colours. Hope to see you next month!
