art for my heart

Oh dear! Time flies when you're having fun….. and I have been having fun!! We all have actually! We've been painting up a storm!

I'm not even sure how it all started…… I must have read something, somewhere on the good old internet, which led to somewhere else and before I knew it, I'd discovered a whole new parallel world! A world of paint and washi tape, stencils and gel mediums, stamps and ink!
And so, we've been creating! Our house has paint spots on the floor, ink stains on walls and drying masterpieces all over the place. We call ourselves artists now, and have a whole lot of fun!

Of course, the young ones are enjoying it immensely and the very youngest one loves to visit so she can "punt" in Oma's book. Even Stuy has done the odd bit and is finding he is more artistic than he thought. If you can really immerse yourself it's quite meditative, he tells me!

The floor in my little loft bedroom is covered in old magazines and painting paraphernalia. There are so many websites and blogs with so many different styles and ways of creativity, that I just want to try them all. Fortunately we already have a good supply of paints as well as loads of different weight paper so I haven't outlaid much to fuel our new addiction!  (yes, that is a basket of unfolded washing in the background!)

It's the time of year when the weather gets cold and I"m struggling with the thought of the long cold winter ahead, that all this colour and something to occupy my creative mind comes in very handy.
So instead of writing out a post about saffron or how I bake my sourdough bread, I've been whiling away the time in a frenzy of art.
I'm loving it!!!!

PS - the saffron and bread will get done.

Have you been on Pinterest? There huge amount of art journal eye candy there.
It wonderful to have the family creating together.

I made the sunflower cheese, we loved it. I soaked the seeds and used smoked salt that I bought from the local growers market. Even my fussy teenager liked it!!!!!!! ;)

  2. What a wonderful way to spend time together. My two girls and myself also enjoy getting lost in the creativity at the kitchen table, then I realise it's time to pack up as I need to make dinner. Oh well!

  10. How lovely to all get involved like that! We've been a bit bogged down lately. We should play more. Having said that, we've been enjoying Uno together as our fun activity. You start playing for the kids sake and next thing you know, you're having a ball!!
