one day in August

Hello folks!!! Its been a long time again and I do apologise. Life has taken a turn in a slightly different direction and I just haven't made the effort to get my photos off the camera and add them to this blog! I hope I will find the momentum again because I do really enjoy the communication and creative side of things here!!
So, finding all sorts of lovely pics on my camera and having gotten the apologies out of the way, I'm once again armed with the necessary items for an update!

We have a family friend staying with us for a week or so and my girls have had a new lease of life in the outdoors! This was the scene that I looked out on from my upstairs window - three girls hunched over a fire under the pine trees. I grabbed the camera and ran out to take more pics.

Yesterday, I smelt the smell of spring. Yes, indeed there was definitely something in the air. The girls must have thought so too because they were very keen on some camping style cooking.

I really, really love it when when they get outside and do such bush-y things like that. Elli is 15, our friend is 14 and my little Fairy is 11 and still they all like to spend a few hours poking the fire and cooking up some lunch.

'Jaffles' was the request and after hunting up the jaffle irons and some fillings, they were off.

We used to go camping fairly regularly and always had jaffles for at least one meal, but that hasn't happened for a while. Good to see them in use again! The girls tell me that they want to do this every day for the rest of the week and I have no objection at all!!!

Thanks for dropping in..... see you again soon!

  1. Isn't it lovely when you're kids just go outside? I love being outside, but have real indoorsy kids and hubby, so when mine all choose to be outside it is bliss to me!
Those jaffles look really good too - might be time to pull out my jaffle iron and have a campfire here too. :)

  2. So true Tracey! Mine seem to have a run on outdoor activities and then indoor busyness. I must admit I'm rather partial to their outside times!!!!
    Enjoy your jaffles!!!

Oh yes please, do leave a comment! I will admit I don't always answer, although I do mean to, but I always read them and love to hear what you say!
