I think it's Advent....

Better late than never right? Thats what I thought when I got home after my weekend away and the littlest one asked me what were we going to do about our Advent calendar. Oh, gosh I had completely forgotten about yummy treats and small boxes/bags/painted toilet roll displays - my mind is on getting the weeds eradicated from the garden and planting food for the summer!

So whats a busy mama to do? I rummaged around in the piles of packed trash treasure that currently reside in our storage container and re-found the tiny fabric bags I'd made for Christmas 2009. Last year was the year of silver toilet rolls and the years before that, we'd always made tiny boxes out of the previous years Christmas cards and hung them in a big bunch with preloved shiny Christmas ribbons!! Those teeny bags had once hung on a nice fresh pine branch (we lived in a house-sized house back then) and were much appreciated each morning!

And I have mentioned before that we have minimal space in this house shoe so we had to think of somewhere to put the filled bags that wasn't already taken up with shelving or beds........ and so along the stair railing was THE spot!!

Tartan ribbon - 50 cents for a large bag at the oppy
Fabric bags - recycled from 2009
Sweet things inside - bought new last week
Special treat - written on repurposed pieces of those nasty envelopes with windows

Viola!! Some happy children and a relieved mama (meaning, once again I've managed to wing it to everyones satisfaction!)

Oh yes please, do leave a comment! I will admit I don't always answer, although I do mean to, but I always read them and love to hear what you say!
