Saturday morning saw the Best Man and I, accompanied by only the two youngest house elves, at the Deloraine Markets. As usual, an impromptu after breakfast executive decision was made and within 15 minutes we were on our way (yes we did wash up the 'dirtys' first)!!
It was a heavenly day, just the right sort of day to go marketing!
We didn't stop for a chat with the gatekeeper.....
......we walked right on past the shiny stainless steel buckets and burnt cooking pots......
....the Best Man dragged me quickly away from the vintage fabric stand (sigh)......
.....I only glanced at the nice sparkly vintage bottles because I remembered that I have a collection at home that I mean to clean up and display sometime.....
.....I did stop for a long look at several plant stalls - and I purchased something to take home and grow at three of them! Or maybe it was four....... anyway, we came home with spring onion seedlings, two highbush blueberries, three rhubarb crowns and a little pretty for the Fairy Girl.
I've planted the rhubarb and the spring onions but I'm not sure where to put the blueberries. I think I'll plant them into a couple of large ceramic pots that I have here, until next year when hopefully, I'll have a clearer picture of how to plant out the house yard.
Spring is such a lovely time of the year, with so much promise, don't you think?
Oh you are certainly right about that! Spring is such a time of hope and promise! I hope your new plants take off well.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a great day. What a lovely market! You'd be able to grow heaps of berries in Tassie. I love all types of berries!
ReplyDeleteSounds like my kind of day out. When is the next one, I might have to get to that.

Oh I do agree!
ReplyDeleteLovely time of year for planting.Enjoy your blueberries . The raspberries I planted look so healthy and vigorous thanks to all this lovely rain.
ReplyDeleteoh what a lovely day....I too always get stuck at the seedlings stall...in fact only last Friday did I add to my collection. I LOVE SPRING....although more like the end of winter here today.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your garden xox Jo
Thanks, eco lovies!
ReplyDeleteYes, Tassie is the place to grow berries and this year we hope to have lots of strawberries, although I still haven't got a rasberry area sorted....next year!
Oooohh, do tell Jo, what you bought?
Deb, the next market is on the 3rd and 17th Dec because the show is on in Nov. The gatekeepers sign tells all......;)
